Refer to this checklist as you go along the process of approving a topic. Before you approve the assignment, make sure the writer meets each of the following requirements:
- Topic is NOT just a general idea such as “feminism,” or “labor rights.”
- Topic is a current event that has occurred in the last couple of weeks such as a court ruling, environmental incident, etc.
- Topic can be an ongoing issue with current relevance (a topic about the need for wind power in India).
- Topic statement includes their stance on the issue (chooses one side to focus on).
- Make sure the link the writer has provided pertains to his/her topic.
You need to do the following on this page:
- Add comments in the “Comment Box” for the writer to read as they update their topic or begin to work on their outline.
- Select the “Status” of “Ready to Write Outline” only if the above requirements are met. If they are not, you should select “Not Approved,” and include which requirements they did not meet in the comment box. If you do not approve the topic, be sure to click no for the question “I have made the necessary changes.”
